Sarah Abraham

Preschool Team Lead

My name is Sarah Abraham and I am the Preschool Team Leader.

I have been working at Heart of the Family since September of 2011. I am a registered early childhood educator, an Ontario certified teacher, and have a Bachelor of Arts in Child Studies. Working with children has always been something I’ve wanted to do. Not only am I teaching children, they are also teaching me. They have taught me that their little minds are constantly absorbing new information, are eager to learn, and want to be challenged.

My name is Tanya Stephenson and I am a Preschool Team Leader working alongside Sarah.

I have been working at Heart of the family since March 2012. I am a registered Early Childhood Educator, and have my Developmental Service Worker. I am a mother to two beautiful girls who have made me into the person I am today. I enjoy every aspect of teaching and have realized in my years of teaching that they can teach us as much as we teach them. We at Heart of the family make a great team with incredible passion for each individual child.

Preschool Team Lead

Heart of the Family currently has two preschool classrooms, where the children range in age from two and half to four years old. Preschool is a time where children are developing their social, emotional, and intellectual skills. They are finding out who they are as an individual and building their self-esteem.

Play has a major influence on their development and how they learn. In our preschool classrooms, the children’s learning is based on their interests as well as their basic skills, which is then structured around the different areas in the classroom: art, science, sensory, math, dramatic play, block and literacy.
